HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

What's everyone doing to celebrate the new year?

We plan to do a bit of soggy skiing in the afternoon at the Peak, meet up in the fancy Regency Pub for appetizers and seasonal cheer, be home by 8, crack champagne at 9 or 10 (because it's midnight somewhere in the world) and then go to bed! Sounds like the traditional Shaw New Year's from when we grew up!

Unfortunately, the whole 2.5" of snow that we have received this year (yup, that's the total for this November and December combined) has just about melted.

New Hands

It was a family event in August when I walked into Brooks Memorial Hospital, and had my bilateral carpal tunnel release. Hannah was my nurse, and Joel was the surgical assistant who prepped me and stitched me up. I could feel things with my fingers immediately after the surgery. (My hands and fingers have been numb and kind of useless for years.) Here's the happy patient recovering on her porch.

New Sewing Machine

My trusty sewing machine of 25+ years literally blew up this year, with a loud bang, accompanied by smoke and sparks pouring out of the back. I brought it in for repair, and they just shook their heads. So, I can home with a new machine. So, I am sewing again. Here's a few things I've stitched up. Now that I have feeling in my hands again (thanks Hannah and Joel!) I can sew again.

Happiness is...

sipping a peppermint mocha in the middle of the afternoon.  Thank-you Hannah!  Mmmmm.

Eby and I snowshoed up to this lookout last Saturday.  The snow is melting fast here, but I hear Buffalo is getting pummeled.

Christmas, Parents, and other things...

Everyone is getting the "family" gift of some kind of yummy thing to have for Christmas morning, or whenever.

Hannah and Susan,
The parents hope that you will come in the spring and drive a Uhaul back east with any of their stuff that you want.  Mother does want money, but it is more of a token.

It is cold and snowy here.  Playing with the dog a lot.  I was sick this week and am still coughing.  Yuck.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
