Finally Fishing

Today, I finally realized a dream I have had since we first moved here, to our property with a creek as the back border, a creek that holds Brookies and Brownies. My waders and boots arrived the other day, won from an Ebay auction from a woman, who I assume, had a husband/boyfriend who bought her complete flyfishing stuff that she had no intention of ever using.

I hit the creek this morning, with my self-tied flies, (a couple from Daddy), and my son manning the camera. I managed to scare 3 trout from their hidy-holes, snag a couple of trees, rocks, and etc. No one tried to bite on my nice nymph, who's body was tied from fur from our bunny Peter. (And I even matched the hatch, as the mayfly I swatted from my arm was black, the same color as our bunny.) Never the less, I enjoyed my time in the creek, managed not to slip, realized I need warmer socks, and saw several HUGE paw prints in the clay-ish mud farther up the creek (we're talking black bears here, they've been spotted on the creek, yikes!...and they like the trout, too! Undoubtably better at fishing than me!)

Anyway, my new waders and boots feels awkward, but I think in time, they will as comfortable as my ski boots and ski pants.

Spring So Far

A couple of stories, a couple of pictures to share...

Although I have some great pictures of the track team, none of them are of my daughter in action. I do, however, have this one pix of her strolling around the infield at a meet. She sprained her ankle in practice, and when she was finally able to get back to running, pulled her quadricep in a sprint. But I give her my personal spirit award. She's still in practice, as able, runs a slow 800 in competition, and keeps positive as she heals. She's wearing her ski hat. Our sports do overlap in this family...

Here's one of Matthew singing away at his spring school chorus concert. He's now a bass, with a voice lower than his dad's or his brother's. Katie's chorus pictures were all blurry. I'm still figuring out my camera. (Note to Carrie: a little camera help, please! I don't use a flash in the auditorium, hense, most photos are blurry.)

Hannah and I enjoyed last weeks ski instructor dinner. We even dressed like twins for the occasion. (Not, that we knew we would be both wearing jeans, and the blazers we got 2 years ago for Christmas from mother!)
